On August 26, 2024, MaineBiz published “How Maine nonprofits can prepare for the 2025 sales tax exemption” by B&I attorneys Jamie Szal and Matt Pick. As the title suggests, Szal and Pick walk readers through new Maine sales tax exemptions going into effect in January 2025. Until this legislation, Maine was the only New England state without a blanket exemption for nonprofits. The authors identify steps nonprofits can take now to be prepared to reap the benefits of the New Maine statute next year.
